General note on my concept of abstract music: Compositions are acoustically reproduceable structures of originally imagined sounds. For me a central aspect of all forms of art is its being an imprint or a cast: the autograph of reality as a self-sufficient object, the trace of life, that is of blood and earth, in art. That’s why for me it’s very important to produce, to write music without the material and symbolic interrupture that happens when you use electronic or software means. I prefer to not use a computer, but to produce music with pencil, paper and instruments made of wood, metal, leather, guts. Even music, which for some theorists seems to be rather non-material, should be an imprint of life, not a sounding result of virtual speculations or calculations. I’m interested in structures that can’t be calculated.
